The 2022 vintage at Casa Ferreirinha, a challenging yet fruitful year, produced grapes with intense flavours. Each variety was vinified separately to preserve the unique characteristics. The grapes, after de-stemming and gentle crushing, underwent clarification at low temperatures, followed by cool fermentation to maintain the freshness and aromatics. Post-fermentation, the wine was stored in stainless-steel tanks for about six months before blending and bottling.
Under the expert guidance of Luís Sottomayor since 1989, Casa Ferreirinha wines are crafted with a balance of tradition and innovation. His approach highlights the natural freshness and complexity of the Douro Valley's grapes.
This vibrant white pairs wonderfully with seafood, especially shellfish, enhancing the flavours with its crisp acidity.
This region produces some of the best value white in the world. Different regional grapes thrive here and produce great blends. Inland wines tend to be refreshing but aromatic with good fruit and minerality.
Northern Portugal's Douro Valley is one of the world’s oldest demarcated wine regions and benefits from a unique environment. The steep, schist-rich hills and the influence of the Douro River create a distinct microclimate. This region, famous for its Port wines, is equally adept at producing exceptional still wines on its terraces, like Planalto Douro Branco. Casa Ferreirinha adheres to sustainable vineyard practices, focusing on biodiversity and ecological balance. This wine is vegetarian.
